Škoda electric models scoop 2 best family car awards
ŠKODA has added to its collection of electric car accolades by taking two category wins at the 2022 DrivingElectric Awards. The Enyaq iV and Octavia iV plug-in hybrid were named as clear winners in two of the most important and popular sectors of the electric car market by the website’s judging panel.
The Enyaq iV continued its remarkable winning streak by taking top spot in the highly competitive Family Car category. The Czech-built SUV saw off rivals to be named as the best electric car for families looking for a long-range car at an unbeatable price.
Explaining how the Enyaq iV wowed the judging panel, Richard Ingram, DrivingElectric editor commented: “Few cars can match the space and versatility of the Enyaq iV. Packed with all the usual ŠKODA ‘Simply Clever’ features, wrapped up in a practical, zero-emissions body, the Enyaq iV is one of the first no-compromise electric family cars. The fact that every model now comes with rapid charging as standard only serves to sweeten the deal."
Keeping with the family theme, ŠKODA also took top honours in the Best Family Plug-in Hybrid Car category with the Octavia iV Estate. Thanks to its advanced petrol / electric drivetrain, unbeatable practicality and value for money, the Octavia iV saw off stiff competition to be named as a clear winner. Explaining the judging panel’s decision, Richard Ingram said: “Not everyone is ready to make the switch to pure-electric just yet. With the ability to run on electricity for up to 42 miles, plus the dependability of a punchy petrol engine when that’s not sufficient, the Octavia iV Estate is the perfect do-it-all family car.”
The Enyaq iV is the first fully-electric car to be built at ŠKODA’s main Mladá Boleslav factory. Available in the UK with two battery size options; 62kWh and 82kWh the Enyaq iV delivers a WLTP driving range of up to 331 miles and can be rapid DC charged to 80% in as little as 38 minutes at speeds of up to 125kW.
Both the Enyaq iV and Octavia iV have enjoyed a remarkable 2021, taking home a raft of top industry accolades. The Enyaq iV has been named Car of the Year by four different industry titles, along with Scottish Car of the Year. The Octavia meanwhile has won four major awards since its launch last year, including What Car? Best Plug-in Hybrid and Scottish Best Plug-in Hybrid of the Year.
