Stokesley Show 2014
One of Teesside’s favorite agricultural shows took place on Saturday 20th September, 2014, attracting a record number of visitors. Now in its 142nd year, Stokesley Show also saw an increase in exhibitors and stands including over 1000 in the horticulture section alone.
Derek Slack Motors were delighted to be invited as a trade exhibitor displaying a host of new SKODA models and attractions, most notably the actual helicopter used to land on a SKODA Yeti’s roof, driven by Top Gear’s - Jeremy Clarkson (in series 16, episode 1) where Clarkson asked the question… ‘Is there’s nothing a Yeti can’t do?’
Parked outside the SKODA hospitality box was the same Fabia S2000 used by ŠKODA Motorsport team’s Sepp Wiegand and Frank Christian in the European Rally Championship.
“It was another fantastic show”, said Tony Slack- Dealer Principal at the Middlesbrough based dealership, “and a great day out for the whole family.”
The show also marked 100 years since the start of WW1, including a land army exhibition to mark the anniversary, with the Royal British Legion hosting their own fund raising stand with a donation of £500 to the charity.
The show offered something for everyone with sheep and wool displays, blacksmith demonstrations, a motorcycle stunt display team, chainsaw carving and a vintage tractor rally.
Tony added, “Despite the damp weather, I don’t think I’ve seen so many people at the show, everyone seemed to be enjoying the event and it was nice to meet many old and new friends. I’m not sure how we’ll top the helicopter display, but we’ve already got our thinking caps on for 2015.”
